Commercial relocations

Office removals planned around your trading hours.

The cost of an office move is rarely the move itself. It is the hours the business is not working, so the plan is built around that first.

What you get

What an office move includes.

Sequenced so the parts you need first come off the truck first.

Crates rather than cartons

Lidded, stackable and reusable. Faster to pack, faster to unpack, and they survive being moved on a trolley.

Labelled by destination

Packed and marked by where things are going, not where they came from. It is the difference between unpacking in a day and unpacking in a week.

Workstations and furniture

Desks broken down with the bolts bagged and taped to the top they came off. Chairs stacked, screens carried on their own. What holds up Monday morning is missing fixings, not missing desks.

Lift bookings and dock access

Tell us about the goods lift, the dock and anything building management wants lodged, and the booking is arranged around it. A CBD tower will want the dock booking in writing, and the after-hours slots go first.

Out of hours where it helps

Evenings and weekends, so the business loses as little trading time as possible.

What changes the price

How an office move is priced.

Like any local move it is sold by time, but the variables are different, and the building usually decides them.

  • Volume and workstation countThe clearest predictor of hours. Crates, furniture and storage all count.
  • Lift access and loading dockWhether you have a goods lift, and whether it must be booked, changes the shape of the whole job.
  • Building rulesMany buildings only allow moves outside trading hours, and most want the paperwork lodged with management well before anyone gets near the dock.
  • Out-of-hours workEvenings and weekends cost more per hour, and frequently save far more than they cost in lost trading.
  • IT and specialist equipmentServers and specialist gear need their own handling, planned separately from the rest of the move.

The questions that set the price

This is the part everyone else skips.

Most forms want a name and a postcode and leave the real questions for a call you are still waiting on. Answer them here instead. It takes a few minutes, and it is the difference between a quote and a guess.

This form is not loading.

It needs JavaScript, and something is stopping it. Rather than have you answer seven questions that would go nowhere, here are the two routes that work without it.

Step 1 of 7
What kind of move is it?

These two types of moves are priced differently. Local is charged by the hour, interstate by the cubic metres your things take up on the truck.

Where are you moving?

The suburb is enough. The postcode and the state fill themselves in.

Moving from

Moving to

Local work is charged by the hour, and the rate follows the city the truck and crew come out of. Rates in Melbourne and Sydney are higher than in Brisbane.

How big is the place you’re leaving?

Property type matters as much as the number of bedrooms. A three-bedroom house is usually around 30 cubic metres, a three-bedroom unit closer to 24.

Bedrooms

How full is it?

Boxes alone are usually five to ten cubic metres, the part almost everyone underestimates.

Anything else to clear? Select all that apply.

How easy is access at each end?

A third floor with a lift is a different job from a third floor without one, and the lift usually has to be booked with the body corporate days ahead. We go through parking and the walk from the truck when we ring.

When are you moving?

Weekends cost more, and so does the stretch from the week before Christmas to mid-January, when most leases end. If your dates can shift by a few days, your move may fit on a truck already running your route.

How fixed is that date?

Anything else we should plan for?

Packing can be as much or as little as you want. A piano, a pool table or a safe is a job of its own: different gear, more hands, and its own price on top.

Special items

Where should we send your quote?

That is the hard part done. Everything you have answered goes to the person who prices the move, and they will have read all of it before they ring. The quote comes back in writing, split into lines. It is based on your answers, so it can change if the details on the day are materially different.

Thanks, we’ve got that.

Your answers are with the person who prices the move. The quote comes back in writing, split into lines, and they will ring to go through it. Your reference is .

Not ready for the full questionnaire

Leave three details.

The person who calls you back is the person who prices your move, not a call centre passing you from one person to another. Submitting this form does not book your move.

Where this usually comes up

Every size of commercial move.

  • Small studio or suiteOften done in a single evening with the right crew size.
  • Floor to floorSame building, different level. Lift booking is usually the constraint, not the carrying.
  • Whole-office relocationStaged over a weekend so Monday morning works.
  • Consolidating sitesTwo offices into one, which usually means storage for the overflow.
  • Fit-out and churnMoving desks and staff within a floor as teams change shape.

How it works

Four steps, and you are only committed at the third.

  1. 01

    You answer

What you have, where it is going, and every awkward thing about getting it out of one place and into the other. The awkward things are the ones that cost money.

  2. 02

    We price it

Off our own rate card, split into lines, in writing. Then a short call about what a form still cannot see: the carry to the truck, the turn at the top of the stairs, whether the lift has to be booked with the body corporate.

  3. 03

    Book your date

A deposit over the phone confirms your booking and allows us to arrange your move. You will know the truck size, the crew size and when they are due.

  4. 04

    Moving day

The independent removal provider booked for your date does the move. Beds go back together first, and cartons go into the room they were labelled for.

Straight answers

The questions people ask before they ring.

Can the move happen outside business hours?

Yes, and for most offices it is the right call. An evening or weekend move costs more per hour and usually saves considerably more than that in trading time you would otherwise lose.

Are crates supplied?

Yes. Lidded plastic crates are supplied for office moves rather than cardboard cartons. They stack properly, move on a trolley and can be reused.

What about our computers and servers?

Screens, monitors and standard workstation equipment are handled with the rest of the move. Servers and specialist gear are planned separately, and that sequence is agreed with you before the day rather than improvised at the dock.

Our building needs paperwork before we can move.

That is normal for commercial buildings. Tell us what your building management requires when you enquire, so it is planned for well before the day rather than discovered at the loading dock.

How much notice do you need?

More than a house move. Lift bookings, building approvals and out-of-hours scheduling all take lead time, so the earlier you start the conversation the more options you have.

The driveway is the worst place to discuss money.

Answer the questions once. It comes back in writing, split into lines, and the person who priced it rings to go through it with you.
